Violet is a 14-year-old registered Appaloosa mare with a kind heart and an incredible second chapter ahead of her. A former 4-H and lesson horse, she is sweet on the ground, soft and responsive to ride, and happiest with a calm, loving person by her side.
When a mass was found in one of Violet’s eyes, she needed surgery to remove it. The mass was confirmed as squamous cell carcinoma, but her pathology showed clean margins. Her veterinarian at Rustebakke Veterinary Clinic does not expect the cancer to cause further problems based on those results.
Violet has adjusted beautifully to life with one eye. She gets around confidently and is not especially spooky. She can paw when tied and can be a little buddy sour, but she is not pushy or overly dramatic. The gentle horse underneath it all is very much the same.
Violet deserves a family that will appreciate her sweetness, understand her quirks, and give her the steady home she has been waiting for.
