Recovery does not happen overnight.

For the dogs rescued from Benewah County, the first step was safety. The next step is the longer, quieter work of medical care, nutrition, grooming, decompression, and trust-building.

Many of the dogs arrived heavily matted and underweight. Some were dehydrated. Others had sores, untreated medical concerns, or signs of long-term neglect. Each dog is being evaluated as an individual, because every animal responds to trauma and change differently.

Some will bounce back quickly. Others will need time, patience, and experienced foster care before they are ready for adoption.

Idaho Animal Rescue Network is grateful to every partner, foster, transporter, veterinarian, and volunteer who has stepped up to help. Large-scale rescue is never the work of one person or one organization. It takes a network.

Updates will continue as the dogs progress and as individual animals become ready for the next chapter of their lives.
